The Complicated Legacy of Henry Kissinger: A Conversation with Thomas Schwartz ("Then and Now" Podcast, April 19, 2021)

Henry Kissinger is arguably the most important and controversial figure in U.S. foreign policy. As a former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor during the Nixon and Ford Administrations, a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, and an accused war criminal, Kissinger is both revered and reviled. In this episode of the UCLA Luskin Center for History and Policy “Then and Now” podcast series, I talk with award-winning professor Thomas Alan Schwartz about his new book, Henry Kissinger and American Power: A Political Biography. We discuss Kissinger's many insights and contradictions, the lessons his diplomacy offers the Biden Administration, and the state of international relations today.
